“I may not be attractive, but I did stay at the Hooters Casino Hotel last night.”
I guess it really is a different kind of Jesus juice they drink in Arkansas!
Janet Huckabee … attended a middleweight prize fight this past weekend in Las Vegas – where she stayed at the Hooters Casino Hotel.
That eye-opening combination – a title bout in Sin City, which celebrates gambling, drinking and all things wild, along with a hospitality chain favoring buxom waitresses in low-cut garb – could potentially shock the armies of evangelical conservative Christians who have made her husband, the former governor of Arkansas, the only remaining GOP opponent to party front-runner John McCain.
But Janet Huckabee, whose husband is also a former Baptist minister, said in a telephone interview Wednesday that her recent brief excursion to root for boxer Jermain Taylor, a longtime friend and fellow Arkansan – and her stay at a hotel that she said wasn’t exactly her first choice – was supposed to be a rare respite from the often-brutal presidential campaign trail.
This comes on the heels of Mike Huckabee’s trip to the Caymans last week.
Also last week, the campaign sent out a desperate email to supporters reminding them this race was about issues. Their issues.
Before we get to a brokered convention however we will need to win Texas and seize the momentum. For this to happen however, we must have your immediate financial support. We are laying it all on the field in Texas and we need you to join us.
Will you make an immediate contribution of $25 or more? Will you stand with me and fight for Texas and reclaim the momentum in the race for the Republican nomination?
This race is about issues. This race is about you.
The fight for Texas is critical. We will invest your support into television ads, targeted voter contact efforts and new campaign materials. Every dollar counts. To compete in the March 4 Texas primary we estimate we must raise an additional $1.5 million by then. To accomplish this, we need you to renew your financial support today. Remember a contribution of $25 or more will help us move closer to the goal and you can be certain we will invest it wisely.
Yup. This man is absurd.
Ari Fleischer just about had it right when he said that “the reason Huckabee’s staying is because he likes flying around on charter airlines.”
“That smug, elitist, arrogant attitude toward many of us who are in this race is going to backfire on a lot of Republicans,” Huck responded.
I doubt it. After all, your childish, ignorant, corrupt behavior already backfired on you. And actually, who else in this race can we justify having that “elitist” attitude towards, Mike? Everyone else is living in reality.
